The Waiheke Local Board recently put $10,000 towards the provision of emergency and transitional housing on the island. The grant will be used by the Waiheke Hope Centre Trust to gain social services accreditation, which will enable applications for government funding and contracts to grow its services. As well as using the grant to tender for government contracts, the trust aims to employ a social worker. • Sophie Boladeras
