Last weekend 13 gymnasts from Waiheke Gymnastics Club competed in the annual Counties Manukau Gymnastics Gymfest.
Because of the more than 400 entrants, the event was held over two days with our girls travelling to Papakura to compete on the Sunday in three age-graded levels.
The emphasis in this event was to have fun and try your best with ribbons, medals and certificates awarded based on an average score from four apparatus: beam, bars, floor and vault. Set routines on each apparatus are judged out of 15 with averages between 14 and 15 earning gold, 13 to 14 red, 12 to 13 blue and 11 to 12 green.
