Project Little Oneroa aims to restore the Little Oneroa Stream, so it’s safe for human contact.

While Plastic Free July is nearing an end, community and council support for the island’s environment is ongoing. 

The Waiheke Local Board has approved funding of $85,000 allocated across four projects to restore and protect the island’s natural environment in partnership with the community. 

Waiheke Local Board chair Cath Handley said members all viewed protecting the island’s environment as one of their key roles.
