Longtime Waiheke resident and journalist Vicki Jayne, currently associate editor of New Zealand Management magazine, has been selected as a finalist in the Magazine Publishers Association awards for 2007.

Vicki is a former editor of Gulf News.

She will be competing for Feature Journalist of the Year in the category ‘Combined Special Interest/Contract/Business/Trade Professional’ along side Mark Revington from Unlimited magazine and Margot Butcher from Air New Zealand magazine Kia Ora.

Finalists in 10 categories have been selected by the judging panel from 300 entries after seven weeks of intensive reviewing.

The first Vicki heard about making the finals was when Gulf News contacted her while she was sailing in the Hauraki Gulf. ‘ I was out sailing when my mobile rang. “It made my afternoon,” she said.

Winners will be announced at a dinner at the Hyatt Regency Hotel on 4  May.•
